Inside cover of my Inspiration Journal. Printed from internet.

Recently i was going through some of the last boxes i had to unpack and organize and i found an inspiration journal that i started September of 2016. This was the time that i realized i needed and wanted to make a change in myself, but as things do, the idea was drowned out by other things on my mind, faded to the background. For 10 days i was really diligent about writing in it to keep myself on track and accountable for my attitude.

I wanted to share some of my thoughts from this journal because lately i have been having discussions with more and more people, and they all seem to hover around these ideas and struggles i was writing about. Even though quite some time has passed since staring the journal the ideas are still, and will always be relevant, because the fact is ITS NOT ALL GOING TO HAPPEN AT ONCE! Change takes time, and sometimes change and goals come in and out of focus through seasons of life. and of course we NEVER really stop changing, growing, and developing ourselves.

Here is the first journal entry, i hope you can find it as helpful as i do...

A New Chapter 9/12/16

"Today i start a new chapter in my life and the road to the new me! I choose happiness and i will create my OWN happiness. I will inspire others. I will change myself, strengthen what i love and improve and replace what i don't like with a forgiving attitude toward myself. At the end of this i will love myself entirely. i will accept my flaws and i will respect myself. From this I will have a new lifestyle. Happiness, positivity, inspirational, self worth, selflessness, spirituality. "Change starts in your thoughts"".

this is what i wanted and this is still the goal, i am so happy i found this. I think its important to review old thoughts and perspectives, it helps us grow and recognize how we DO grow over time, even if we take small steps. I think sometimes we start something with so much fire in us that it makes us run out of steam quickly, its that idea that we want something to change all at once and then be done and move on to the next thing, the next step in our lives. But this isn't reality. Change really takes time, and even when we feel like a transformation is complete, later whether it be two months, a year or five years we can easily revert to old habits without noticing until we are back into old routines and have to work our way out of the hole once again. A lot of the growth is rooted in self care. Once a plant is fully grown and beautiful, it takes constant care to maintain its health and beauty and we are the same. We need nourishment to maintain our self contentment.

So step 1 is to REMEMBER & ACCEPT CHANGE AS IT COMES, let it come steadily and don't get discouraged when you maybe take two steps forward and one step back. Any bit of progress counts toward reaching your goals!

The best way i have found so far to stay on top of the self care is to find a group of relatable friends and hold frequent discussions with them! I never imagined so many people were going through the same thing i was and when i started to be open about it other people opened up to me. Having these people who understand helps to keep you accountable for your progress, because you want to improve for yourself but also you know if you can do it you can INSPIRE OTHERS to do it too!
